it's Better in the Bahamas
Here we go. I am officially 30.To make this step in my life easy to digest ( just kidding ), my husband & I decided to go back to one of our fav spot in the entire world : Bahamas. Must, more precisely HARBOUR ISLAND.
Harbour Island is one of those quick getaways for East Coasters that’s ideal for many reasons, the primary one being that there’s nowhere to go (unless it’s into the water).
Three years ago, we came for the first time to Eleuthera without our son who was one at the time. It was an amazing weekend, chill and laid-back like we love things. simple and real.
We loved it here. Anyway, last week we came back and went to the small island across from it, Harbour Island. This place vibe is so unique, you arrive and feel at peace in a minute... away from this crazy world we live in. So many people talked about this place as a very chic island - and it was - but I loved that the local presence was still so vibrant. It gives the island that much more character. It's pretty, but not perfect. Which is my favorite combo. And the locals are the best !
FROM MIAMI : I recommend AA or SILVER AIRWAYS from Fort Lauderdale.
Destination : North Eleuthera Airport. from the airport take a taxi that will drive you to the Boat ferry that takes you from Eleuthera to Harbour Island. ( 5 min ). The only way to get to Harbour Island is by boat. Water Taxi is the way of choice and is just a short ride from the North Eleuthera airport. Taxis are about $5 and leave every 5 minutes or so for a short boat ride to your destination.
Once you get to the island, I highly recommend renting a golf cart from one of the many available. If you don't get one right on the dock, don't fret - there is a rental spot right at the end of the dock. Carts go for about $50 a day, and they are THE way people get around because the island is so small.
I decided to stay at the OCEANVIEW CLUB. There are a few fancy resorts that dot the shoreline, but we’re here, a teeny tiny spot where Each room or cottage presents its own eclectic theme and vibrantly colors—think intense mango or teal. The house bar displays a statue of Louis Armstrong and offers just three seats, but plenty to drink. The elongated patio with white-washed wooden furniture almost nudges the clear, turquoise water, a popular spot for wedding photos. They are all about making each guests stay one-of-a-kind, focusing on good food, great conversation and complete relaxation.
